Frequently Asked Questions
Mexican Insurance companies have 3 general levels of coverage. They are:
- Basic: The basic coverage includes third-party liability coverage, occupant medical expenses coverage, legal assistance, and roadside assistance.
- Limited: The limited coverage includes everything in the basic coverage, as well as the total theft of the vehicle.
- Full: The full coverage includes everything in the basic and limited coverage, as well as total and partial damages to the vehicle.
The purchase process is very easy-going once all the necessary information is gathered and you have chosen the best-suited plan for you.
- Required documents: copy/photo of the proof of ownership or “factura”, Copies/photos of your ID, and Utility bill (doesn’t have to be in your name).
- Start date.
Some insurance companies require you to carry a motorcycle driver’s license, whereas others only require a regular valid driver’s license. Our policies would cover your ATV whether you have a motorcycle driver’s license or not. So in the event of a covered claim, you would not have a problem related to the license type.
However, please keep in mind that regardless of having insurance, it is the driver’s responsibility to have that and other legal documents in order, as they are required by Mexican Law. If the client is fined for not having the proper license, that would not be covered by the insurance company.
As long as the minor has a motorcyclist’s driver’s license granted by the authorities in Mexico, the claim will be covered. If the driver’s license is not for motorcyclist, the company will deny the claim.
Yes, as long as the ATV has not been out of the agency for more than 10 days. After that time you can only insure it at Fixed or Commercial Value.
You have the option to insure it at Fixed Value or Commercial Value. Fixed value means the vehicle won’t depreciate throughout the policy year, whereas with Commercial value it will.
Guardian Insurance MX offers quotes at Fixed Value because we know that’s in the client’s best interest in the event of a claim, but you can request a quote under Commercial Value to compare premiums.
If the damages occur during the same year as the model year of your ATV, the insurance company will authorize it to be repaired directly at the dealership you bought it from. If the vehicle is a year or more old, then it will be repaired at one of the car shops in agreement with the company.
However, you can purchase additional coverage that offers agency repairs for up to 10 years of vehicle age. You can request it from the executive at the time of the quote.
