Red foods that can improve your health

Some you might consume constantly, others not as much, but what you probably do not know is everything they can do for your health. Know which foods, that in addition to having a striking reddish tone, are also very good at preventing or treating diseases.

Strawberries

Strawberries are practical options to reduce the risk of strokes. This is thought to be because their antioxidant compounds also possess anti-inflammatory properties and prevent the formation of blood clots. In addition, due to their Vitamin C content, anthocyanins, quercetin, kaempferol and folic acid, they also help fight cancer and tumor development.

Blueberries

The consumption of blueberries helps improve the pathologies associated with metabolic syndrome, a group of risk factors for coronary heart disease, composed of obesity, diabetes, hypertension and cholesterol. They were also associated with a reduction in signs of aging, such as wrinkles, age spots, and even acne.

Apples

Phenolic compounds are substances that protect fruits from the attack of germs and predators. Apples are rich in these substances, which function as antioxidants that delay cellular aging, helping, among other things, to protect the brain against different diseases or disorders.

Tomatoes

Tomatoes possess a large amount of vitamin A, B, C, E, and K, folic acid, thiamine, potassium, manganese, magnesium, and phosphorus. In addition, they have a high water content, dietary fiber and protein, as well as organic compounds, such as lycopene. This makes them a great option for preventing or treating cardiovascular, skin, eye, oral, and even cancer problems.

Watermelons

In addition to its attractive color and refreshing taste, watermelon has many health benefits. According to different research, it helps to take care of the heart, control or lose weight, works as a diuretic, reduces cholesterol levels and was even linked to an improvement in sexual desire. This is due to its rich content of vitamins A and C, calcium, phosphorus, potassium and magnesium.

In addition to being delicious, cherries are characterized by having important anti-aging and antioxidant properties. For this reason, the researchers linked them to benefits on the immune system, vision, and digestion. There is even evidence that they would be effective against cancer

Raspberries

Raspberries belong to the group of “fine fruits”. They are rich in vitamin C and E, sugars, simple carbohydrates, dietary fiber and components with high antioxidant capacity. This is useful to prevent the activity of free radicals, unstable compounds that promote oxidative stress, and thus, the appearance of different diseases

Currants

Among the properties of currants that improve health and well-being in general, is their high content of vitamin A, B and C. They are associated with good skin health, since their antioxidant activity contributes to combat certain skin conditions, including signs of aging. They were also recorded to function as a natural diuretic.

Blackberries
